The Language of water

A book edited by Chiara Cavalieri and Fabio Vanin

Water shapes cities and territories in different ways, dimensions and scales; all along its natural and artificial cycles, water runs through an interwoven network. Crossing surfaces, soils, subsoils, pipes and countless devices: from surface to sewer, above or underground, polluted or clean, cold or warm, visible or invisible, water moves unceasingly throughout a complex infrastructure.

The Language of Water proposes to explore this infrastructure as one explores a language, looking at the landscape as a complex text to be deciphered; identifying and mapping the rules regulating its words, its sentences and ultimately its syntax.
